Not a good day for bikers


KOTA KINABALU: Two men have been killed and another seriously hurt in separate motorcycle accidents in the Sook interior area.

The deceased are Rain Dahap, 26, and Juanis Uvil, 30, while the injured victim is a 23-year-old rider who suffered face and bodily injuries.

Keningau police chief Supt Yampil Garai said the first accident involving Rain occurred at KM3 Jalan Sook Tulid at 12.15am yesterday.

The victim was heading to Tulid from Sook when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed to the roadside.

“He sustained serious head injuries and died on the spot,” he said.

Supt Yampil said the second accident involved two motorcyclists at KM5 Jalan Sook Tulid at about 2am yesterday.

The two were heading to Tulid, with one of them trailing the other, when they both lost control negotiating a bend before crashing to the roadside, he said.

He added that Juanis died at the scene due to serious head injuries while the other motorcyclist was hurt in the face and body.

The injured victim was then rushed to the Keningau hospital for further treatment.
