Youth in trouble for letting 13-year-old drive

JOHOR BARU: A 25-year-old man has been detained for allowing a minor to drive a car at a playground in Taman Daya here.

Police stepped in after a photo showing a boy on the driver’s seat with a man next to him was posted on social media.

The photo, which was said to have been taken at around 5.30pm on Feb 18, was uploaded to a Facebook group at noon on Feb 23.

It has been making its rounds on social media and has garnered backlash from members of the public online since.

He said that the case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act for exposing children to danger.

In addition, the police is also investigating the suspect under Section 39(5) of the Road Transport Act for allowing underage drivers to operate motor vehicles.
