Cops nab man for allowing underage boy to drive in JB neighbourhood

Johor BARU: Police have detained a 25-year-old man for allowing a 13-year-old boy to drive a car without a licence at a playground in Taman Daya, here.

Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat said that the investigation revealed that the incident occurred at 5.30pm on Feb 18 after a photo was posted on social media.

“The photo was uploaded to the JB Tracer II group on Facebook at noon on Feb 23 showing a man in a passenger seat while a child was driving the car.

“Investigations revealed that the suspect was trying to teach the child how to drive a car at the playground,” he said in a statement here on Saturday (Feb 24).

ACP Raub added that the case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for exposing children to danger and Section 39(5) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for allowing underage drivers to operate motor vehicles.
