Nine houses gutted in Beaufort fire


KOTA KINABALU: Nine houses in a village in Beaufort district were burnt down when a fire broke out on Wednesday (Feb 21), however no casualties were reported.

The Fire and Rescue Department received the report at 5.10pm regarding the incident at Kampung Bakalau and a team was sent from Beaufort fire station to the location, with additional assistance from Kimanis fire station.

"Nine house units were completely destroyed and the blaze was put out using the open water source from the river.

"The fire was under control at 6.11pm and the operation ended at 7.50pm," said the Department spokesman.
