Important milestone for the development of the supply chain profession in Malaysia

PETALING JAYA: Sunway University together with The Logistics and Supply Chain Management Society (LogiSYM) have marked a significant milestone in the advancement of the supply chain profession in Malaysia through the formalisation of a strategic partnership.

The collaboration is solidified by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), fostering a stronger connection between academia and industry.

The initiative is being spearheaded by Sunway Business School (employability, engagement and impact) associate dean Dr Stella Ong Kim Yoke.

The MoU signing ceremony, held at Sunway University, saw the presence of Sunway University president Prof Sibrandes Poppema and LogiSYM president Dr Raymon Krishnan as signatories and witnessed by Sunway University provost Prof Abhimanyu Veerakumarasivam and LogiSYM Malaysia organising chairman Dr Marco Tieman.

The partnership between Sunway University and LogiSYM is poised to elevate the standards of the supply chain profession in Malaysia by promoting collaboration, knowledge exchange, and research initiatives between academia and industry experts.

This strategic alliance aims to address the evolving challenges and opportunities in the dynamic field of logistics and supply chain management.

Prof Poppema expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, "This partnership is a testament to our commitment to providing a holistic and industry-relevant education.

“By working closely with LogiSYM, we aim to contribute significantly to the development of skilled professionals in the supply chain sector."

Dr Raymon emphasised the importance of bridging the gap between academia and industry, stating, "LogiSYM is excited to join hands with Sunway University in this endeavor.

“Together, we can create a platform for the exchange of ideas and expertise, ultimately benefitting the growth and sustainability of the supply chain profession in Malaysia."

The MoU signing represents a pivotal moment for both parties as they embark on a journey of mutual collaboration and knowledge sharing for the advancement of the supply chain profession in Malaysia.
