Another rural eco-tourism spot opens

KOTA KINABALU: Rural tourism activities in Sabah’s Kadaiaman constituency is continuing to grow with the opening of yet another tourist attraction spot.

Situated in the interior of Kota Belud district, the new Mindakod eco-tourism site at Kg Tengkurus provides a camping ground with river recreational activities as well as hiking.

Visitors will also get a chance to learn about the traditional tagal system.

It is practised by the locals where a certain part of a river or forest is closed for hunting and other activities for a period of time each year.

The area is only allowed to be opened during certain months.

Mindakod eco-tourism chairman Yonggoi Andah said the tourism initiative involved the participation of 48 families.
