Dad denies raping daughter and attacking wife


MELAKA: An odd-job worker has claimed trial to six charges of raping and sexually abusing his daughter and criminal intimidation of his family members.

The 38-year-old accused, who was produced at the Sessions Court in Ayer Keroh here yesterday, claimed trial when the six charges were read before Judge Azaraorni Abd Rahman.

Based on the charge sheets, the accused raped his 15-year-old daughter, who later became pregnant.

The charge was framed under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of 30 years, and whipping of up to 10 times upon conviction.

The accused was also charged with allegedly sexually assaulting the same victim and now faces a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping upon conviction.

The accused, who is a father of two, also faces another charge of attacking his wife with a machete, an act that could land him in jail for up to 20 years, on top of being fined or whipped, if convicted.

For the consecutive charge, the accused is accused of intimidating his wife and children by wielding a machete. He had also allegedly threatened his 18-year-old son and his daughter, who is now 16.

All the offences were allegedly committed at a house in Durian Tunggal, Alor Gajah.
