Two nabbed in Ipoh with RM9,000 worth of drugs


IPOH: Police here arrested two men for being in possession of drugs worth over RM9,000 at a house in Lahat.

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Hassan said the two, aged 40 and 54, were arrested at Kampung Changkat Larang around 6pm on Thursday (Feb 15).

“Checks on both the suspects inside the house found one plastic package with compressed dried leaves believed to be ganja, and five transparent plastic packages also containing dried leaves believed to be ganja weighing in total 708.5g.

“Besides that three plastic packages believed to contain heroin weighing 17.4g, and six packets of methamphetamine weighing 8.7g were also confiscated,” he said in a statement on Friday (Feb 16).

ACP Yahaya said the total drugs confiscated were worth RM9,320 and can be used by about 1,000 addicts.

“Initial investigations found that the two have been active in the illegal activity since January this year, and the drugs seized are believed to be for distribution around Ipoh,” he said.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 39A (1)of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

The suspects have been remanded for seven days for further investigations, he added.
