KOTA KINABALU: For the past few days, a man has been resisting calls from his family as well as the police and firemen to get down from the rooftop of his apartment in Sandakan district.
The 39-year-old man is believed to be suffering from mental health issues, said Sabah Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Hamsa Isnurdini.
“He has been on the roof since three days ago and is still refusing to come down,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Hamsa said they were called to assist in bringing the man down at the Flat Sejati Apartment at around 11pm on Feb 12.
“The man’s family is also trying to get him to come down,” he added.
It is learnt that rescuers as well as the man’s family are not able to get close to the man as he would turn aggressive and try to hurt himself with a stick if they went near him.
