Bonding over food and cultural diversity

KOTA KINABALU: The Chinese New Year is an occasion for all to celebrate, and the Department of Veterinary Sabah (DVS) was out to prove this point by hosting a potluck celebration for all staff members.

“We wanted to get everyone from all units together to mark the festivity, so we had a potluck on the eve of Chinese New Year,” said DVS Kota Kinabalu Region senior assistant director Dr Sen Nathan.

He said most of the personnel were not Chinese.

“But not being Chinese or Buddhists should not stop us from celebrating the Chinese New Year together. We should foster better team spirit, besides just having fun,” he said.

Dr Sen said they were dressed in red and bright coloured clothing to add to the festive mood and to better embrace Sabah’s unique cultures.

Besides food and drinks, there was also a karaoke session out in the office grounds.

“Overall, it was nice food and a great bonding session,” said Dr Nathan.
