Sabah top cop vows to weed out ‘parasites’

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah police will continue keeping close tabs on corruption among its personnel, with the state’s top cop promising to weed out “parasites” who tarnish the image of the force.

Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun said a total of 93 officers and rank-and-file personnel were investigated for various disciplinary offences, including corruption, last year.

He said from the disciplinary investigation papers opened, 67 papers had been completed while another 26 were still under probe.

“So far, we have acted on 55 cases.

Actions include dismissal, demotion or a freeze in promotions.

“Some were issued warnings, fines, forfeiture of emoluments or a salary reduction.

“The rest were reprimanded with no further action,” he said.

“(My advice to personnel) is, from now on, don’t commit wrongdoing. These are parasites in the police force.

“Any personnel who commits an offence will not be spared from action,” he told reporters.
