Cops hand out 106 summonses, seize six motorcycles during ops in KL


KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 106 summonses were issued to motorcycle riders for various offences while six motorcycles were seized in an operation at the Kuala Lumpur-Seremban Expressway.

Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department director Comm Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri said the operation, codenamed Ops Samseng Jalanan, was conducted at about 10pm on Saturday (Feb 10).

"A total of two officers and nine personnel from the department were involved in patrolling the area to curb illegal traffic activities.

"We inspected a group of motorcyclists at the Seremban rest stop and issued 106 summonses and seized six motorcycles.

"The seized motorcycles were brought to Nilai police headquarters for further action," he said in a statement on Sunday (Feb 11).

Meanwhile, at Shah Alam expressway, a motorcycle rider was detained for allegedly riding dangerously by doing the "superman stunt", he said.

"The suspect was brought to Subang police headquarters for further action.

"We are investigating under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for riding dangerously," he added.

Comm Mohd Azman said the department was committed to curbing unruly traffic activities as it endangered other road users.
