Politician’s son charged for sexually harassing minor in Tawau

KOTA KINABALU: A politician’s son in Semporna has been charged for sexually harassing a student last year.

Mohd Nadzmi Abdul Manan, 25, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges read to him before Tawau Sessions Court Judge Rosli Ahmad on Thursday (Feb 8).

According to the charge sheet, he was accused of showing his penis to a 17-year-old girl in a car parked by the roadside along Jalan Pokas - Kuala Bebang, at around 2.30pm, Dec 13, last year.

Nadzmi, who was unrepresented, cried and asked to be offered bail.

"Your honour, I plead to be granted bail, please, your honour I want bail," he was quoted as saying.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohd Suhaimi Suriana said the offence was non-bailable.

The court rejected Nadzmi’s plea for bail, and set March 12 for case management and remention.

For the crime of sexual harassment against a minor, Nadzmi faces a jail sentence of up to 10 years or a fine of up to RM20,000, or both, upon conviction.
