Johor Regent lauds cooperation between Armed Forces and police

JOHOR BARU: The close cooperation between the police and the Armed Forces has been very successful in preventing illegal immigrants from entering the country, says Johor Regent Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim.

"Under my leadership, the close cooperation, especially between the Johor police and the Armed Forces through the Seventh Malaysian Infantry Brigade, resulted in excellent success in preventing the entry of illegal immigrants into the country, especially in Johor," the Johor Crown Prince, who is also the commanding officer of the Johor Armed Forces, said after visiting the Tanjung Sepang Tactical headquarters in Johor on Thursday (Feb 8).

"During the visit, I was presented with a demonstration on the arrest procedure of illegal immigrants.

"My visit follows the brilliant success of an integrated operative involving various agencies in Johor in Ops Merpati 1," he said.

The operation saw the arrests of some 1,108 illegal immigrants, 24 boat skippers and the seizure of RM2.6mil worth of items.

Also present were Johor state secretary Tan Sri Azmi Rohani and the Seventh Malaysian Infantry Brigade Commander Brigadier General Mohamad Suria Mohamad Saad.
