KOTA KINABALU: Better economic progress and harmony are among the wishes expressed by Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor in his Chinese New Year message.
The Chief Minister said while working towards more development and boosting industries for Sabah, the government would continue to ensure safety and harmony in the state.
"This way, we can all continue to celebrate our festivals, such as Chinese New Year and others, in peace and happiness," he said on Thursday (Feb 8).
He said Sabah would continue to support all festivals and celebrations so that cultural practices can be passed down to future generations.
Hajiji wished all celebrating Chinese New Year a prosperous Year of the Dragon ahead.
Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew urged the people to play their part in bringing prosperity to Sabah.
She said Sabah, under the leadership of Hajiji, prioritised the people's well-being and would continue its efforts to improve the economy for the betterment of all communities.
She expressed optimism that tourism in Sabah will continue to grow this year.
In her Chinese New Year message on behalf of the ministry, she said that in Chinese culture, the dragon represents power, authority, good luck, and prosperity.
"Being a favourable and auspicious year, it is an opportune time to get married, invest in property or venture into business, among other positive actions," said Liew.
