NILAI: The Education Ministry is investigating allegations that the 2023 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) history paper had been leaked.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said appropriate action will follow if the allegations turn out to be true.

“Whatever the allegations, this ministry will investigate.

“At the same time, I ask that students focus on the exam,” she said after visiting SMK Nilai Impian here yesterday.

She said they will probe into the claim in detail and take full responsibility.

Meanwhile, Fadhlina called on parents and schools to work together to stop students from using nasal inhaler products that are marketed as “energy sticks”.

“I urge parents and schools to take this issue seriously. Students should not be using (so-called energy sticks).

“They should be focusing on education and spending time on beneficial programmes, not consuming things that affect their health,” she said after attending the Negri Sembilan Cross-Cultural Unity Day celebration yesterday.

It was reported last Sunday that the Health Ministry will take action against a new trend of products called “energy sticks” that are being targeted at children.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said they became aware of the supposed sale of the device after receiving multiple complaints and alerts through social media.

His response came after local public health group Public Health Malaysia, in a Jan 3 Facebook post, voiced concerns that these “energy sticks” are being sold in Malaysia, alarmed by their rising popularity among minors.

Local advertisements for the products feature a two-pronged nasal inhaler filled with oils, mint or camphor.

The products are supposedly being sold for as low as RM2.50, with its ease of use being targeted at children.

On another matter, Fadhlina said that 80% of early school assistance had been distributed ahead of Feb 10.

In Negri Sembilan, RM26,458,050 has been distributed to 478 schools.
