Retiree beaten up by road bully, suffers multiple injuries and bruises to head and face

SEPANG: A senior citizen was brutally beaten in what is believed to be a case of road rage.

The 73-year-old retiree suffered bruises to his left eye, swelling on his face and head, a fractured cheekbone and orbital floor fracture following the assault.

Sepang OCPD Asst Comm Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof said they received a report on the incident on Jan 30.

"The victim alleged that he was beaten in front of a private clinic at Taman Tasik Puchong Prima in Putra Perdana.

"He was driving his car from Brickfields to Putra Perdana to meet a friend when suddenly another motorist started shouting 'engkau ni bodoh, tak pandai bagi signal' (you are stupid and don't know how to use the signal)," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Feb 6).

ACP Wan Kamarul Azran said the victim continued driving but was tailed by the suspect.

"The victim only managed to drive for about one kilometer before his car was blocked by the suspect's vehicle, who then dragged him out.

"The suspect assaulted the victim before fleeing the scene," he said, adding that the victim was taken to the Serdang Hospital in an ambulance.

ACP Wan Kamarul Azran said following the incident, the suspect, a 25-year-old businessman, was arrested at around 5pm on Monday (Feb 5).

"Checks showed the suspect has prior records for gang robbery, causing public disturbance, as well as a drug offence.

"The suspect has been remanded for four days to assist in the investigation," he said.

He urged those with information on the case to contact the Sepang police hotline at 03-8774 222.
