Man arrested for beating pregnant lover with rolling pin in Ampang

AMPANG: A delivery man has been arrested for beating his pregnant lover with a rolling pin at an apartment here.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail said they were alerted about the incident at around 8am on Jan 30 when the 29-year-old victim sought treatment at the Selayang Hospital.

"The woman was injured after being hit by her lover on the head and arms. Checks revealed that there were injury marks on both of her hands," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Feb 6).

He said police opened investigations for causing hurt with a weapon under Section 324 of the Penal Code.

"At around 5pm on Monday, police arrested the 34-year-old suspect near Kampung Baru and seized a rolling pin, which was believed to be the weapon used.

"Checks revealed the suspect has a prior record and tested positive for methamphetamines and amphetamines," he said, adding that the suspect has been remanded for four days.

He said investigations revealed that the motive for the case was due to an argument over debt between the two.

"The woman was heavily pregnant at the time the report was lodged and just gave birth today (Tuesday (Feb 6)," he said.
