M’sian inventors clinch deal with US-based Astrolab


THREE local inventors did the nation proud by signing a cooperative deal with United States-based lunar logistics company, Astrolab, reported Metro Ahad.

The trio from Aphelia Sdn Bhd – Muhammad Mohd Kamil, 29, Muhammad Razlan Dhamir Hamdan, 29, and Lee Guo Rui, 25 – caught the eye of the company with their invention, Wireless Power Technology for Space Applications.

Aphelia founder Muhammad Razlan said they had represented Malaysia in the world’s largest start-up competition, the Startup World Cup 2023, held last year in San Francisco and which saw participants from 40 countries. He said although their company only managed to make it to the semi-finals, it was still a proud moment for them.

“The difference between our technology and others, particularly from US and Canada, is that they use laser whereas we use radio signals. It is much safer,” he said.Muhammad Razlan said now that they had signed the deal with Astrolab to develop the technology, their mission would be to source for funding and implement the project.

He said the idea for the invention came about in 2017 when he was studying electrical and electronic engineering at University Teknologi Mara in Penang, adding that they started working on it in 2020.
