Cop hurt, daughter killed in crash on MRR2


KUALA LUMPUR: A 42-year-old senior police officer broke both arms while his six-year-old daughter died after their motorcycle hit the back of a car along the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) here.

City Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Asst Comm Sarifudin Mohd Salleh said the incident occurred at 8.50am on Monday (Feb 5).

"The car was in the leftmost lane when the motorcycle hit it.

"The impact of the crash hurled the policeman and his daughter onto the road," he said in a statement.

The policeman and his daughter were brought to a nearby hospital for treatment, he said.

"The girl died while receiving treatment, and the police officer (was treated for broken arms).

"The driver of the car, a 45-year-old woman, was unhurt," he added.

The case has been classified under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, he said.
