MACC, KK City Hall join hands to tackle public fund leakages

KOTA KINABALU: The new mayor, Datuk Seri Dr Sabin Samitah (pic), is happy to work with graft officials to prevent leakages and ensure better work governance.

He said the city hall was also willing to strive to improve work performance, as the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had outlined its objectives for 2024.

He said this after receiving a courtesy call from Sabah MACC director Datuk Karunanithy V. Subbiah at his office on Tuesday (Jan 30).

During the courtesy call, Karunanithy expressed MACC’s hope to focus on procurement, enforcement, leakages of public funds, and improving tax collection.

He also mentioned how the MACC wishes to foster strategic collaborations with the Kota Kinabalu City Hall and work towards win-win situations for both parties.

Also present was Sabah MACC operations deputy director Syamsul Osman.

Sabin took over as the seventh mayor of Kota Kinabalu on Jan 1, 2024.
