Lorry driver held for bribing JPJ officer

SEREMBAN: A lorry driver has been remanded for seven days for allegedly offering and giving a RM500 bribe to a Road Transport Department (JPJ) officer.

Magistrate Nurul Saqinah Rosli issued the order following an application by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) prosecuting officer Zainab Yahya.

The man, who is in his 20s, was detained when he went to have his statement recorded at the MACC office in Port Dickson on Wednesday.

He had allegedly offered and given the bribe after he was stopped for driving without a valid licence and a Goods Driving Licence at 10.40am in Lukut earlier the same day.

The lorry also did not have a valid road tax or insurance and had not been taken to Puspakom for periodical inspection.
