Lorry driver detained after crash kills mother and daughter in Dengkil


KUALA LANGAT: The driver of a lorry that crashed into four other vehicles near Dengkil which resulted in the deaths of two victims has been detained by the police.

Kuala Langat OCPD Supt Ahmad said that the two killed were a 43-year-old woman and her 10-year-old daughter.

"Five other road users as well as the lorry driver were uninjured. The lorry driver has been detained to assist investigations," he said on Monday (Jan 22).

He added that the 47-year-old suspect claimed that the lorry suffered brake failure and that a full inspection of the lorry will be conducted at the Puspakom branch in Banting.

Earlier on Monday, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said that the accident occurred in Jalan Banting in Dengkil.

Four vehicles were hit by a lorry.

The accident killed the two victims and injured a third woman who was in the same crushed car.
