Cops nab three for drink-driving in Kluang


KLUANG: Three men were arrested by the police for drink-driving at a roadblock along Jalan Hj Manan in Bandar Kluang here.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said the operation was conducted on Sunday (Jan 21) between 1am and 5am.

"We managed to arrest three men aged between 24 and 48 for driving under the influence of alcohol. One of the suspects also has a prior case involving drugs," he said in a statement here on Monday (Jan 22).

All of the suspects tested negative for drugs.

The case is being investigated under Section 45A(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 (Amendment 2020) for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

It provides a fine up to RM30,000 and up to two years in jail, in addition to being disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for a period of not less than two years.
