CM’s son refutes claims of drug ring link

KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor’s son Mohammad Reza has lodged a police report, refuting claims that he is linked to a drug cartel in the state.

According to Reza’s report that is widely circulated on social media, he first received a text message from a friend, who showed him a viral photo with a slanderous caption.

The caption read: ‘Mohd Reza Hajiji, the eldest son of the Chief Minister, was arrested under suspicion of being involved in a drug cartel’.

It further alleged that Reza is one of the 10 masterminds of the cartel, who were nabbed recently on Dec 25.

In a statement, Reza said that the police report was lodged to strongly deny the allegations and to allow the police as well as the MCMC to take the necessary action.

The police report was lodged at the Tuaran police station at 2.45pm yesterday.

Tuaran OCPD Supt Noraidin Ag Maidin said police would investigate the case.

On Dec 26, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the police had cracked a major drug syndicate operating in Sabah with the arrest of the kingpin, a Datuk Seri, who is also a patron of a non-governmental organisation.

In total, 10 people have been detained for alleged involvement in the syndicate.
