Cops arrest two in Kluang for stealing air conditioner compressor


KLUANG: The police have arrested two men in their 20’s for stealing an air conditioner compressor at a surau in Taman Titiwangsa here.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said the police received a report regarding the incident last Wednesday (Jan 10) at 1.30pm and added that a Criminal Investigation Department (CID) then arrested two men at two different locations.

“The first arrest was at Taman Intan on Jan 10 at 11.30pm while the second arrest was at Taman Kluang Barat on Thursday (Jan 11) at 3.30pm,” he said.

“The team has also managed to confiscate items such as clothing, a motorcycle, and tools believed to have been used to open air conditioners,” added ACP Bahrin in a statement on Sunday (Jan 14).

ACP Bahrin added that the first suspect has 16 prior cases in his criminal record involving 13 crimes and three cases involving drugs.

“The suspect tested positive for morphine, while the second suspect has prior involvement in crime and tested positive for methamphetamine,” he added.

With the arrest of the duo, the police have managed to solve 10 cases of air conditioner theft around Kluang, he added.

The case is being investigated under Section 451 of the Penal Code for breaking and entering with the intention to steal.
