AFTER the death of her mother two years ago, Siti Aishah Mohd Nor Din, 25, decided to postpone her undergraduate studies to care for her disabled sister, and quit studying Fine Arts at UiTM Shah Alam.
Harian Metro reported that she is also looking for a job to help her father Mohd Nor Din Mohammad, 65, who does odd jobs at their village in Kampung Mulong in Machang, Kelantan.
“As the firstborn, I’m willing to sacrifice anything for my sister and father. My sister Siti Rokiah cannot walk and has to be fed and bathed.
“I’m not burdened by all these chores. Instead, I’m grateful to have the opportunity to care for my younger sister after the death of our mother,” she said.
Siti Aishah said her family is now relying on the RM500 monthly assistance from the Welfare Department to buy basic necessities, including adult diapers.
“However, if we are short of money, our relatives would help us.
“But I don’t want to burden them either,” she added.
