PUTRAJAYA: Anti-graft investigators have questioned Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor to wrap up their probe into alleged corruption involving the Kedah Football Association (KFA).
Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) senior director of investigation Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hashim said investigators were already finalising its case.
“To complete our probe, the MACC called Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Noor to be present at our headquarters today (yesterday),” he said.
However, Hishamuddin said details of the investigation could not be made public.
“This is because information pertaining to the case is sensitive and confidential,” he said yesterday.
Muhammad Sanusi arrived at the MACC headquarters here at about 8.30am and was seen leaving after three hours without stopping to answer queries by reporters who had been waiting for him.
It was reported that the MACC would be calling a Mentri Besar to get his explanation on the case.
It is learnt that a probe into this claim came after a report was lodged by several contractors, who alleged they were promised projects in the state if funds were channelled to the accounts of the football club.
On Jan 5, four individuals including the chief executive officer of KFA were remanded over a RM6mil bribe allegation.
Reports quoted Muhammad Sanusi as alleging he was being targeted over the accusation of corruption in KFA.
The Kedah Mentri Besar, who is also KFA president, claimed the recent arrest of the four individuals including the club’s CEO was only to create a case, to paint a bad perception of his administration.“The target is actually me. For months, they have been looking for a case against me.
“(But) you can see the truth. Sanusi (me) has no case. But they still create one, including this perception that there is a lot of corruption going on in Kedah. Even football (here) also has corruption,” he was reported to have said.
