Dr Wee welcomes Chan Kong Choy as new TAR UMT board of governors chairman

PETALING JAYA: Tan Sri Chan Kong Choy is the new chairman of the TAR UMT board of governors, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The MCA president and TARC Education Foundation board of trustees chairman stated that TAR UMT will continue to provide affordable, quality education for students while ensuring steady growth for the institution.

Dr Wee expressed gratitude to Tan Sri Liow Tiong Lai, who stepped down as the board of governors chairman after ten years of service.

"Liow will remain on the board of governors to offer his invaluable and professional opinions," he posted on Facebook on Wednesday (Jan 10).

Dr Wee chaired the first board of trustees meeting at TAR UMT for 2024 on Wednesday (Jan 10) and discussed various development plans for the new year.

He said the board examined the development of branch campuses in Penang, Perak, Johor, Pahang and Sabah to ensure healthy growth across all campuses.

"To ensure sustainability, our main campus will gradually install a solar power system as a countermeasure against the rising cost of electricity, aligning with the government's call for renewable energy initiatives," Dr Wee added.

Meanwhile, he also welcomed Ir Dr Tan Yean Chin, the former President of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia, to the board of trustees.
