Bersatu dismisses claims of more Opposition MPs supporting Anwar at next Parliament sitting

PETALING JAYA: None of the eight Opposition Members of Parliament allegedly pledging their support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim are from Bersatu, says Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal.

The Bersatu youth chief dismissed claims by Bukit Gantang MP Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal that eight more Opposition Parliamentarians would be pledging their support to the Prime Minister in the coming Dewan Rakyat sitting in February.

"I am not sure who is really sending him such messages. He is a delusional MP who is trying to sow doubt among the public (with the remarks).

"None of the eight so-called MPs support Anwar, especially from Bersatu; these are lies," he said.

On Saturday (Jan 6) Syed Abu Hussin said that eight Opposition MPs were expected to voice their support for the unity government to gain allocations for their constituencies from the Federal Government.

"The MPs are waiting for Parliament to reconvene on Feb 26, then the activities (pledging support will start again. There are about seven or eight MPs who are waiting for things to unfold throughout these two months," he was quoted saying by Kosmo on Saturday.

Syed Abu Hussin had been reported saying that there would be more MPs from the Opposition who would come out and pledge their support for the Prime Minister.

The Bersatu MP was among the five MPs who had voiced their support for the unity government last year.

The others are Jeli MP Zahari Kechik, Gua Musang MP Mohd Azizi Abu Naim, Kuala Kangsar MP Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid and Labuan MP Datuk Dr. Suhaili Abdul Rahman.

Except for the Kuala Kangsar MP, those who pledged their support also moved their seats in the Dewan Rakyat closer to Muda’s Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.
