Brothers charged with murder in JB


Siblings Jagdeeshraj and Vasantharaj are facing a murder charge over the death of a man in a fight.

JOHOR BARU: Two brothers have been charged at a Magistrate’s Court here with the murder of a 25-year-old man.

P. Jagdeeshraj, 20, and P. Vasantharaj, 21, allegedly murdered Muhammad Syafiq Abd Latif in a fight at the junction of Jalan Trus and Jalan Ungku Puan here at 1.08am on Oct 27 last year.

They were said to have committed the offence with three others still at large.

The charge was framed under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries either the death sentence or a jail term of 30 to 40 years, and no fewer than 12 strokes of the cane, if found guilty.

No plea was recorded as it is a murder case under the jurisdiction of the High Court, and no bail was offered.

Magistrate Nurul Farahah Mohd Suah set March 6 for submission of the post-mortem report.
