Sabin’s appointment as mayor is a boon to Kota Kinabalu City, says FCAS president

KOTA KINABALU: The development of the city is bound to flourish with the appointment of its new mayor Datuk Seri Dr Sabin Samitah, says the president of the Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS).

Tan Sri TC Goh (pic) said this when congratulating Sabin on his appointment as the seventh mayor of Kota Kinabalu City.

“I am confident that Dr Sabin, who was the former Inland Revenue Board chief executive officer, with his vast experience in the public sector, would be able to bring the development of Kota Kinabalu City to greater heights,” he said in a statement Wednesday (Jan 3).

He hopes Sabin could facilitate more professional and proactive collaboration with the state government and various agencies to advance the Kota Kinabalu 2035 Blueprint and all aspects of the Kota Kinabalu City Hall 2023-2026 Strategic Plan.

Goh, who is also a member of the Sabah Economic Advisory Council (SEAC), expressed full support and warm welcome to Sabin on his appointment as mayor by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor on Tuesday (Jan 2).

Goh said Sabin is the third Kota Kinabalu mayor from Ranau. The other two mayors from Ranau were Datuk Abidin Madingkir (the third mayor of KK) and Datuk Nordin Siman (the fifth mayor of KK).

Meanwhile, he also expressed gratitude to the outgoing mayor, Datuk Norliza Awang Alip, for her great efforts and contributions to various aspects of development in Sabah, Kota Kinabalu especially.

Norliza served as Kota Kinabalu City’s sixth mayor, and its first female mayor, since January 2021, succeeding her predecessor, Datuk Nordin Siman.
