P-hailing driver charged with trafficking 112kg of syabu


SEREMBAN: A p-hailing rider has been charged with trafficking more than 112kg of syabu at a place of worship here.

No plea was recorded from D. Dkrishna Rao, 31 after the charge was read to him before Magistrate Syed Farid Syed Ali on Thursday (Dec 21).

The offence was allegedly committed at a temple along Jalan Tuanku Antah near here around 8.55pm on Dec 9.

Dkrishna was charged under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, punishable under Section 39(B) of the same legislation.

The section provides for death, or imprisonment for life with whipping of no fewer than 15 strokes, upon conviction.

The court did not allow him bail and fixed Feb 21 for next mention pending findings of a chemist report.
