As long as it’s not a personal attack, says Bukit Gantang MP

PETALING JAYA: The recent jibe against him from a Perikatan Nasional colleague has not fazed Bukit Gantang MP Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal.

Syed Abu Hussin, who is among five Bersatu MPs who have declared their support for Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, said he viewed the cynical swipe from Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan positively.

“He mentioned MPs who supported PMX (Anwar) being appointed ministers.

“I view his statement positively although he said it in a sarcastic manner,” he said when contacted.

He added that he welcomed the way Takiyuddin articulated his views as it did not touch on personal issues, including family.

HarakahDaily quoted Takiyuddin as saying on Dec 14 that he had expected Syed Abu Hussin to be part of the reshuffled Cabinet but that did not happen.

The PAS secretary-general reportedly said it was sad that none of the Perikatan lawmakers who declared support for the Prime Minister in the Dewan Rakyat were given positions.

On a Cabinet appointment, Syed Abu Hussin said he was not holding on to such hopes.

“It is up to the government. If they plan to appoint, it is good, but we are not hoping for it. There are no such promises,” he added.

Syed Abu Hussin said his priority was to help his constituents, especially by making necessities affordable.

On whether he has received an allocation for his constituency, Syed Abu Hussin said it was expected next year.

Syed Abu Hussin also said that no one from the Perikatan leadership had contacted him since he declared his support for Anwar.

On Nov 28, Syed Abu Hussin became the fifth and latest MP from Bersatu to declare their support for the government.

The other four Bersatu MPs are Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar), Suhaili Abdul Rahman (Labuan), Mohd Azizi Abu Naim (Gua Musang) and Zahari Kechik (Jeli).
