Filipina teen accuses M’sian stepfather of rape

JOHOR BARU: A 54-year-old man has been arrested by the police for allegedly raping his teenage stepdaughter, who is a foreigner.

Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm Rahmat Ariffin said the 18-year-old victim, a Filipina, claimed the suspect had raped her since she was 12.

“She claimed the incidents took place while she was staying with her stepfather at Bukit Horizon, Iskandar Puteri here. She has since moved out of the house.

“The victim lodged a report on Nov 24 and the suspect was arrested at around 10.30pm on the same day after turning himself in at the Iskandar Puteri police headquarters,” he said yesterday.

The suspect has no criminal record and tested negative for drugs.

During the interrogation, the suspect denied raping the girl, ACP Rahmat added.

Police also recorded the statements of five witnesses, including a Hospital Sultanah Aminah doctor, who performed a medical check-up on the victim.

“The stepfather was released on police bail after some of the statements given by the witnesses and victim had contradictions,” he said.
