Perak MB unaware of any Perikatan assemblyman planning to support unity government

IPOH: Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad (pic) does not know if any Perikatan Nasional assemblymen from the state are planning to declare their support for the unity government.

Saarani, who is also Perak Barisan Nasional chairman, said no one had told or referred to him about the matter.

“Hulu Kinta assemblyman (Muhamad Arafat Varisai Mahamad) did not tell me before he announced it during the state assembly sitting. Since he is the one who said it, (you) should ask him instead.

“He is the one who is responsible for the statement,” the Kota Tampan assemblyman told a press conference here on Tuesday (Dec 5).

Saarani said this when asked to name the Perikatan assemblymen speculated to be planning to pledge support for the unity government.

On Monday (Dec 4), Muhamad Arafat said two to three Perikatan assemblymen were happy with the unity government's leadership and might declare their support in the next sitting.

However, Perak Opposition leader Razman Zakaria described Muhamad Arafat’s statement as cheap politics and that the state Perikatan was still intact.
