KUALA TERENGGANU: The Terengganu Social Welfare Department has delivered 4.6 tonnes of essentials, including food and other necessities, to the Pulau Redang forward base, in preparation for more than 1,000 residents to face floods.

Its director Mazura Ngah Abd Manan said that among the goods delivered using the Marine Department’s Eastern Region’s ship were rice, baby formula, sugar, sardines, oil, biscuits and mineral water.

“On Friday, the Welfare Department delivered 2.9 tonnes of basic necessities to the forward base on Pulau Perhentian in preparation for the floods.

“Delivery to Pulau Redang could not be carried out simultaneously because there were problems related to transportation,” she told Bernama.

Mazura said with the delivery to Pulau Redang forward base yesterday, all 164 forward base facilities in the state received supplies of basic goods.

The 164 forward bases in Terengganu involve 62 locations in Hulu Terengganu district, Kemaman (24), Dungun (21), Marang (18), Setiu (19), Besut (14) and six locations each in Kuala Terengganu and Kuala Nerus, she said.
