Cops: Suspect in viral video of schoolgirl's assault already charged in court

SUNGAI BULOH: A factory worker who allegedly molested a Form Two student has been charged in court.

Sungai Buloh OCPD Supt Shafaaton Abu Bakar said checks found that the 31-year-old foreigner was charged in Klang on Sept 27 for physical sexual assault on a child.

She said this in reference to a video, believed to be CCTV footage of the incident, which has gone viral on social media.

"Yes we are aware that a video of the incident has gone viral on several social media platforms.

"The incident took place on Sept 18 at a grocery shop here," she said, adding that police received a report from a relative of the 14-year-old girl.

She said the 31-year-old suspect was arrested on the day of the alleged incident.

The 33-second video shows a student in uniform picking groceries when a man walks next to her.

He turns and is seen groping her before she breaks loose and runs away.

The man then continues to look at items on the shelves when a woman confronts him.

Another woman in a uniform, believed to be a policewoman, then enters the frame and pulls the man aside.
