PUPILS from SJK(T) Telok Panglima Garang have built a model rocket, measuring 8m in height, and a robot astronaut to promote interest in science and technology, Makkal Osai reported.

School headmaster K. Rajasekaran said the project was completed at a cost of some RM20,000 which was raised through donations.

The two models took about two years to complete under the guidance of the school’s science teacher S. Selvam.

The models are lit up at night with power generated from solar panels which is a point of exposure to renewable energy for the pupils, Rajasekaran said.

Kuala Langat Education Department deputy director Abdul Hamid Abdul Majid, who officiated the ‘launch’ of the rocket, congratulated the school for completing such an interesting and first-of-its-kind project.
