KOTA KINABALU: Efforts to instill anti-corruption awareness among the young by the Sabah Human Resource Development Department (JPSM) have been welcomed by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
The state JPSM held an Integrity and Anti-Corruption Course (KIAR) for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) students at the Technical and Trade Training Institute (ILTP) in the state’s south-west Papar district on Wednesday (Sept 13).
MACC deputy chief commissioner (prevention) Datuk Seri Norazlan Mohd Razali expressed his appreciation on the course during a visit to the ILTP campus in Papar.
“The feedback we received from the trainers and students were very good.
“MACC has also taken note of suggestions to improve the anti-corruption training modules and teaching methods so that subjects can provide added value, not only for academic purposes, but also as a basis to start a career or to run a business later,” he added.
Norazlan said the anti-corruption course was the first programme held in an effort to spread the anti-corruption message to TVET students since it was introduced on July 9, 2021.
“The task of fighting corruption is not MACC’s task alone, but everyone need to take responsibility to combat it.
“It is not impossible for cases of corruption to drop if these efforts are intensified and carried out together. Malaysia can be free from corruption,” he said.
Norazlan was earlier taken on a tour of the ongoing KIAR session and spoke to some 50 students on the programme.
He also explained to the students how the course can contribute to the country’s efforts to be free from corruption.
Also present during the visit were Sabah JPSM director Dg Norsiah Duran, state MACC deputy director Alexander S. Kunghi and MACC head of education branch, community education division Mohd Nur Lokman Samingan.
