Wan Junaidi’s Telegram account hacked again, warns of impersonators

PETALING JAYA: "Don’t be deceived by calls or messages impersonating me,"said Senate President Tan Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.

The Dewan Negara president advised after his Telegram account was recently hacked by scammers yet again.

"I would like to remind the public not to be deceived by calls or messages impersonating Tan Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, especially if it involves financial matters or meeting appointments.

"Anyone who has received such messages or calls can contact my office at 03-2601-7610 for further verification," said Wan Junaidi in a statement on Wednesday (Sept 6).

He said he was deeply disappointed by the actions of the hackers and hoped that members of the public would not fall victim to such scammers.

He advised the members of the public to be more vigilant against scammers using social media platforms and report hacking incidents to the appropriate authorities.

This was the second incident involving Wan Junaidi’s Telegram, which was hacked in late July last year.

Wan Junaidi, then Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law), lodged a police report after scammers used his photo and name to solicit money from unsuspecting victims.

Besides the police, a report was also lodged with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

On Aug 8 last year, then Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and former Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah reported that their Telegram accounts had been hacked.
