Joggers find woman’s body slumped in car in KK

KOTA KINABALU: The body of a 62-year-old woman was found slumped in a car near Hakka Hall at Jalan Signal Hill here on Friday (July 21).

Police have initially classified the case as sudden death as the woman is believed to have died from natural causes.

Kota Kinabalu police chief Asst Comm Mohd Zaidi Abdullah said some joggers had stumbled on the car by the roadside with its engine still running and headlights on.

“They peeked inside the car and were shocked to find a woman unconscious in the driver’s seat,” he said when contacted on Saturday (July 22).

The police were then alerted at 8.25pm, he said, adding a patrol team was deployed to the location.

He said a medical team from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) was already on the scene when the police arrived some six minutes later.

“A doctor confirmed the woman had died.

“Based on our probe, there were no signs of foul play that could be linked to the victim’s death,” said ACP Mohd Zaidi.

The body has been sent to the QEH forensics department for an autopsy, he added.
