Identities of two bodies found at Melaka road ascertained, say police

MELAKA: The identities of two corpses wrapped in canvas and left to rot at a roadside of secondary jungle here have been ascertained, say Melaka police.

Melaka Tengah Asst Comm OCPD Christopher Patit said the police will only reveal the identities of the two men once they have more leads into their investigation.

“Post-mortem reports on the two bodies showed no signs of visible injuries and we are waiting for a chemistry report to determine the actual cause of deaths,” he said on Tuesday (July 11).

ACP Christopher Patit said there were also no indications that the two deceased were triad gang members based on tattoos found on their bodies.

On July 10, a 35-year-old lorry driver made a gruesome discovery of the two bodies wrapped in canvas sheets at Kampung Ujong Padang in Cheng here.

The bodies of the two men were believed to have been dumped at the scene two to three days earlier.

He said the discovery was made at 9am and one of the bodies was found with hands and legs tied with cable and rope.

One body was clad in jeans and a T-shirt while the other was dressed only in denim shorts.

Both the bodies were found under piles of rubbish. The case is being investigated as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
