State polls: Sabah Umno to aid unity govt candidates in Selangor, says Bung Moktar


KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Umno will focus on helping candidates from Barisan Nasional and its allies in the unity government for the six state elections in Peninsular Malaysia.

Sabah Umno chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin said that their election machinery will focus on Selangor but would help candidates in other states if needed.

He said Sabah Umno had been involved in the previous Melaka and Johor state elections and had been successful in ensuring victories of Barisan candidates in the two states.

“This time,we work for both Barisan and candidates from parties in the unity government,” he said Wednesday (July 7)

He said Sabah Umno, is the largest in the country with 583,979 members and it is capable of playing a role in the coming election campaigns.

Polling day for six states, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Penang, Kedah, Terengganu and Kelantan, falls on Aug 12 and nomination on July 29.
