IPOH: Police have recorded the statement of five witnesses over the case where gunshots were fired five times at a house in Kuala Gula, Kuala Kurau.
Perak police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said investigations are ongoing to find the motive behind the crime.
“The statements from the five have been recorded to help in the case. We will complete the investigation papers and solve the case soonest,” he told reporters after attending a Career Talk at SMJK Yuk Choy on Wednesday (July 5).
Comm Mohd Yusri urged those with information to cooperate with the police.
When asked if the victim had received any threats prior to the incident, Comm Mohd Yusri said there could be several factors leading to the incident.
“We are looking at all angles, and cannot confirm anything yet.
“There is a possibility of business-related, rivalry, or even syndicate related, and we are investigating all possibilities,” he added.
On Tuesday (June 4), Comm Mohd Yusri said police are on the lookout for a man who allegedly fired a gun five times at the house.
He said the man, who was on a motorcycle, shot at the house around 3am on Tuesday.
“We found bullet holes in a car, a motorcycle, and the house windows," he said in a statement.
"We also found five 9mm bullet casings scattered near the house,” he had said.
Comm Mohd Yusri had said that the occupants of the house, a family of six, were awakened by the gunshots but were unharmed.
The house owner is a 56-year-old cockle farm operator.
