GEORGE TOWN: The route back to Klang Valley from the northern states was packed with traffic, with short stretches of congestion near expressway intersections and toll plazas as the Hari Raya Haji holidays end.

Southbound traffic on the North-South Expressway at the Penang end was smooth before 2pm yesterday but by 4pm, queues have started building up at the Juru toll plaza heading south and Sungai Dua toll plaza heading north.
