ISKANDAR PUTERI: Police have reversed their initial “no further action” (NFA) stance on the altercation between a food delivery rider and two Singaporeans at a petrol station in Sunway Iskandar here.

Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm Rahmat Ariffin said the case was now being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.

“We have opened an investigation into the altercation after recording statements from witnesses,” he said yesterday.

Earlier, in a statement, ACP Rahmat said the police were looking for two Singaporean nationals involved in the argument with the food delivery rider on June 16.

“There was a misunderstanding between the rider and the two suspects, who were apparently unhappy that he was taking a long time to fill up petrol on his motorcycle.

“The suspects have been identified as Singaporeans. Efforts are ongoing to locate the two with the help of the Singapore police,” he said.

A video capturing the argument between the food delivery worker and the two suspects have since been making the rounds on social media.

On Wednesday, the delivery rider lodged a police report, but later decided not to pursue the matter.

On Thursday, Grab Malaysia, which had suspended the rider after the altercation, said it had reinstated the rider after looking into the matter.

Earlier, a number of netizens took to social media saying that they would boycott Grab Malaysia and uninstall the app if he was suspended.
