DIRECTOR Datuk Yusof Haslam (pic) has denied using anything mystical to “sell” his films and dramas, Utusan Malaysia reported.

The 69 year old was disappointed by the baseless allegations made against him, saying that he would never resort to such things.

“People accuse me of using ‘things’. Some even asked me about the rituals I supposedly do to help make my films a success.

“I do not prescribe to polytheism (syirik). Whether a movie tanks or gets a box office, it is all because of the Almighty.

“These kinds of allegations are part and parcel of the entertainment industry, much like the F&B business. People want to know if you are using something to get customers flocking to your shop,” he added.

Yusof said he could not predict which movies would do well. Citing Polis Evo 3, he did not anticipate it to do better than Fast X, which was released about the same time.

> The Orang Asli community in Pos Simpor are not keen to send their children to SK Tohoi in Gua Musang, Kelantan ever since six students had hysteria last month, Kosmo! reported.

The village development and security committee chairman Dendi Johari said the children were traumatized by the incident after the six students from Penad Village became hysterical in front of their eyes.

“The incident (hysteria) has raised fear and trauma among parents,” he said.

> A senior citizen was more than grateful for the help he got to clean up his house.

Lim Hen Choy, 63, said members of Persatuan Amal Sehati Negeri Sembilan (Sehati) had dropped by his house in Taman Tasik Jaya, Seremban and cleared all the garbage.

“I would like to thank the NGO who was willing to clean my house which was stinking and full of garbage. I have never been married and been living in uncertainty since my business closed down due to Covid-19,” he told Harian Metro.

Lim said that he used to run a successful car repair business but after it shut down, he started looking for recycled items that could be sold to make ends meet.

“Besides cleaning my house, they also gave me a new bed and mattress as I was often sick and spent a lot of time sleeping.

“I felt ashamed with my living condition, but what can I do? I am unable to clean the house because of the pain in my legs and body. I am very grateful to all these young people,” he said.
