Feeling safer with police patrols on the beat

KUALA LUMPUR: Patrols conducted by the Mobile Patrol Vehicle (MPV) and the Motorcycle Patrol (URB) units have made the people feel better about safety, say the police.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani (pic) said the patrols have increased the people’s confidence in the police’s ability to ensure their safety and that of their belongings in general including during festive seasons.

He said that between January and April, the MPV unit has conducted 872,283 vehicle checks and issued 76,768 summonses.

“The MPV unit also detained 1,651 individuals for various criminal offences including those related to narcotics.

“The URB conducted 154,887 stop-and-talk as well as meet-and-greet sessions to foster better ties with the society,” he said during the Bukit Aman monthly assembly yesterday.

Underscoring their slogan of “The police and the society are inseparable”, Acry Sani said it is a testament to the importance of fostering close ties with the people in preventing crime.

“The Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department is tasked with conducting engagements with all levels of society through various programmes,” he said.
