Education key for Johor to become developed state by 2030, says MB in Teacher's Day message

JOHOR BARU: Education will help set the course for Johor in achieving its target to become Malaysia’s first developed state by 2030, says Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi (pic).

The Mentri Besar added that at the state government level, they already have a plan to make Johor a developed state in seven years.

“We are doing this for the future generations, who will inherit the state one day. However, without education, how can it be possible to achieve the status of a develop state,” he added.

Onn Hafiz, who is also the Machap assemblyman, said this in his speech before officiating at the Teacher’s Day celebration held at Sekolah Tun Fatimah here on Tuesday (May 16).

He added that with this in mind, he together with state Education, Information and Communication Committee chairman Norliza Noh, were working closely with the Johor Education Department.

Onn Hafiz said their focus was to unearth talented school students who would lead Johor one day.

“Starting from this year, we will provide a full scholarship to help secondary students, especially from B40 families, to continue their tertiary education.

“We want to help them to get the highest level of education,” he said adding that students that have been successful in their path should not forget their teachers who have played a major role in shaping them.
